Lemon is a species of small flowering evergreen tree. It is thought to have first grown in Northeast India, Burma or China. Genomic studies suggest it's a hybrid between bitter orange and citron. Our essential oil is cold pressed from the rind. Lemon extractions have been popular for centuries for a broad variety of therapeutic applications and its uplifting, zesty aroma.

History
Both traditional Chinese and Indian medicine have used lemon for thousands of years. It has been cited in treatments for food poisoning, malaria, typhoid and scurvy. It is considered a purifying agent on the blood and has a long history in remedies for colds, throat infection, anxiety and high blood pressure. It has also been used to promote cleansing in the lymphatic system and help relieve muscular aches and pains. The bright and zesty scent of lemon is said to improve concentration.
